Wedding Bridal Garters

The Wedding Day Garter

Mira Bridal GarterA wedding garter is fun for the guy who catches your garter, or a lasting keepsake if you choose to save it for yourself. Whatever your style, there is a special garter available. Why not buy and wear two? Keep one for yourself and throw the other to someone in the crowd!

Tossing the garter is a wedding tradition that began in France. Originally, in ancient times, it was thought that the wedding guest who left the ceremony with a the garter would bring home good luck.  The tradition often became chaotic, as wedding guests would run and grab  at the bride’s gown.  To protect their brides, grooms began tossing the garter. The tradition of tossing the bridal bouquet began shortly after this.

Over the years, as most legends do, the tradition now indicates that the recipients of the garter and bouquet  start the next dance and  have a photograph taken with the bride and groom. The garter is placed on the brides right leg, just above the knee.

One of our favorite and most traditional garters is a pretty “something blue” that you can toss to the single gals at the reception, or keep tucked away for yourself after the wedding. The garter is made with pale blue satin, and embroidered French lace studded with sapphire Swarovski crystals.  Use or interactive search to find the garter you are looking for.  Narrow down your search by entering a phrase like “blue bridal garter”.
